The Lord’s prayer is a great guide for the sorts of issues for which you should be praying. It starts with focusing on God. It acknowledges His purity. It asks that whatever God has in store for us from heaven will actually happen. It trusts in the provision that God offers each and every day. It admits to sin and seeks forgiveness.
Do you know what a hypocrite is? We think of it as someone who says one thing, but does another. In the old days, it was someone who was an actor wearing a mask disguising themselves from the audience. When you interact with people today, don’t wear any masks that make you appear to be someone you are not. God sees through our masks. He will bless the real you, not the fake you that you are pretending to be. It is okay to not have your life together. Maybe today is a day when you can not be alright and let God lead someone to bless you.
1 Corinthians 3 says that God tests the quality of our work. What we do for selfish gain will be burned up like stubble in a fire. But, what is done in worship and service to the Lord will be refined as gold and jewels fit for heaven. Today, think about your interactions with people. Are you treating them with respect? Are you helping those in need? As the old poem by CT Studd goes, “Only one life, 'twill soon be past, only what's done for Christ will last”.
