Digging Deeper- Community: August 2, 2022

Read: Philippians 2:3-4

Describe what selfishness is. Describe what ambition is. What is wrong with having ambition? How does that differ from selfish ambition? Describe what vanity is. Describe what conceited is. Why is vain conceit wrong? Describe humility. Is it a sign of weakness to be humble? Why or why not. How does humility represent Christ? Look again at verse 4. Does humility mean that you become a doormat and never have your needs met? Today, process what it will mean for you to be a person of humility. Go look for someone with whom you can look out for their best interests.

Digging Deeper- Community: August 1, 2022

It is tough trying to be nice to people , especially when they are very different from us. Especially today when everyone is critical. This week we dig deeper into what it means to regard one another with humility like Christ did.

Read: Philippians 2:1-2

What are the character traits that you should exhibit being united with Christ? Why does such a union give you these traits? What does verse 1 suggest is the reason for such love? What does it mean to you to have fellowship with the Spirit? What does that do to Christ when we act in such a way? Today commit to having the mind of Christ with your family and acquaintances.

READ: Hebrews 10:24-25; Matthew 23

Whom is Jesus condemning in Matthew 23? Why? What is the main teaching of this passage? Is it more important to look good on the outside or to be good on the inside? What does this passage mean to us today? What does the passage say to the person who is at church all the time, but does not grow or show any spiritual fruit? Today, search your heart. Where do you need to move off being outwardly pleasing and begin looking at the inward heart? Are you willing to be gathered under the wings of the Lord?
