Read: Matthew 16:25

What is the most important thing in your life? To answer that think about what you spend your time and resources investing in? It is that for what you are trying to save your life. But to save your life for temporal things, this verse says you will lose it. What sorts of things in life do we put a high value on that in the end are lost? What is the alternative in this verse? What does it mean to lose your life for Christ? Today, in order to gain all the fullness of life in heaven, give your life over for His will to be done.

Read: Luke 24:46-49; 1 Thessalonians 4

Because Christ suffered death on a cross he should be in a grave somewhere. Why is that not true of Him? What does His resurrection mean to you? Hint: Scripture says that Christ is the firstfruit of the resurrection. If He is the first fruit, what does that suggest about others? Who are those who will also rise one day? Thank God that His blood shed washes your sins away thus allowing you to one day rise to heaven.

Read: Job 10:21; Mark 15:44-45; Romans 6:4

What is burial likened to in Job? Why do you think it is important that Jesus was buried? As a condemned prisoner, Jesus had no right to be properly buried, but could have been thrown over the wall into the perennial burning of refuse. Where was He buried? Joseph was a wealthy landowner, so this was not an insignificant burial spot. What does that suggest about God’s relationship with His son? According to Romans 6:4, how are we linked to Christ in burial? Today, thank God for setting the course for the burial of your sins so that you can be raised without sin to new life.
