Turn out all the lights in a windowless room. Try to maneuver around the room while unable to see. How are you feeling? How is hell described in this passage? Hell is not only dark but on fire. The hottest flame recorded was actually black. Would you agree that this is no place to end up? Give your heart to Jesus who will rescue you from destruction.

What does hell look like? Think about what “the smoke of their torment” means. How can torment look like ‘smoke’? Why is there no rest in hell? Someone has said that hell is the absence of God. Ponder today all the ways that you enjoy God in your life. Thank Him for being part of your life today.

How long is eternity? What do these verses tell you about the punishment of hell? What did Jesus teach about hell? Will someone ever be released from hell? Why or why not? Think about someone that has no faith in Christ. Decide today to set up a time to share the love of Christ with that person.
