John 15:1-5

What is the imagery of Christ saying here? Who is the vine? Who are the branches? Are there other vines out there in your life trying to attach themselves to you? What are they? What makes Christ the true vine? Are you attached to Him today? In what way are you fully attached? How is Christ’s presence in you being seen in your life? What evidence of fruit that fits God’s vision for your life is evident? If there is no fruit, either God is putting down your spiritual roots, maturing your branch to be able to bear the weight of fruit or you are a cut off branch – totally outside of God’s will and vision for you. Which of these might be true for you? What is the promise offered in vs. 5 about bearing fruit? Ask God to make you a branch that bears much fruit.

Friday, July 2: Romans 8:18-31

What is Paul saying to those who suffer in some way? Why do we have problems and suffer? Are these heartaches and problems beyond God? In what way does God suffer with us and help us? Think about your worst problem. Do you see how this will turn out according to verse 28? What is the promise of verse 27-31? When did God know about you? When did He know about your problem? God is at work today behind the scenes about your situation. It may look bleak, but you may be closer than you think to see God break through in total control for your good and His glory. Do not lose hope. Recommit to His vision for your life.

Acts 9:15-16; Galatians 1:11-23

Life is short. You blink and all sorts of opportunities can pass you by. It becomes hard to wait upon God when we want something to happen now. What vision did God give to Paul early on in his Christian life? When did that vision start in the mind of the Lord? Where did he go first? Why give a vision and then send him to the desert? What happened to Paul in the desert? Are you going through a desert experience where you feel like you have been shelved in the dark corner somewhere? Do not look at this as a failure or a time when God is forsaking you. Spend time in the Word and in prayer and even in fasting to allow God to speak to you and change you for what lies ahead. Sometime in the future, your desert experience will make sense.
