Read: Ephesians 4:11-13. These are a list of ministry gifts. What roles are represented? Who has those gifts in your church? Do you believe that you might have one or more of these gifts? Why do you believe so? If you are not sure, ask God to show you which gift you might use for His Kingdom work.

  • APOSTLE: A person sent to new places with the gospel. You may have heard of missionaries going to different countries to help spread the Word; they could be described as apostles. An apostle can also provide leadership to other churches or ministries and offer advice on spiritual matters.

  • PROPHET: The ability to speak the message of God to others. This sometimes involves foresight or visions of what is to come. This skill should be used only to offer encouragement or warning.

  • TEACHER: The skill to teach from the Bible and communicate it effectively for the understanding and spiritual growth of others.

  • EVANGELIST: The ability to successfully communicate the message of the gospel, especially to nonbelievers.

  • PASTOR: A person chosen to spiritually shepherd and protect a congregation.

Read John 1:33; Acts 2:38; Acts 8:15-17 ;Acts 19:4-6 What is the baptism of the Spirit? How is a person baptized in the Holy Spirit? When does such a baptism take place in every believer today? What does it mean to you that you have the power of God living in you? Today ask God to use you with Holy Spirit power to change someone’s life.

A quick look at the Holy Spirit gifting believers with spiritual gifts shows many different gifts available, but not every gift given to every person. Some think that there were certain gifts, such as speaking in tongues, that were handed down only for a time when they were needed in biblical history and are no longer needed now. Others believe that the spiritual gifts have not ceased. There are three categories of gifts:

  1. Ministry Gifts Ephesians 4:11-13

  2. Motivational Gifts Romans 12:6-8

  3. Manifestational Gifts 1 Corinthians 12:8-10

Read John 14:26 What did Christ give to us when He left? For what purpose? Are you alone once you accept Christ? What do you need from the Holy Spirit in your isolation and loneliness? The Holy Spirit (the Gift from God through Jesus) gives spiritual gifts to the believer. Why do you think God has given you one or more spiritual gift(s). Do you know what yours is? Today thank God for His spiritual gift. Ask Him to show you what your gifting is and how He wants to use that gift.
