Read Nehemiah 2:1-10. What does it mean that Nehemiah was the cupbearer to the king? What sort of person does a cupbearer need to be? What would the king think about Nehemiah as part of his bodyguard? Would Nehemiah be allowed to leave his place of employment? Why or why not? Why was Nehemiah sad in the king’s presence? We learned at church that this was against the law, because everyone was to be happy before the king. Why was it a natural response for Nehemiah to be afraid? (vs. 2-3). What was the miracle that occurred (vs. 4-9). Today what are you afraid about? Nehemiah took his fears to the Lord and asked God to intervene. Can you trust God with your fears? What are you afraid to entrust to God? Take time today to take your fear to the Lord.
