Digging Deeper: March 30, 2021


(Read 2 Samuel 16:2)

Leadership is often a lonely, difficult role. Leading up to this story, because of David’s moral failure, he is judged. (Read 2 Samuel 12:9-12). What does one of David’s princely sons do to his half sister? (Read 2 Samuel 13:10-14). What does another princely son of David, Absalom do to Amnon? This divides David from Absalom. Absalom flees the palace and is in exile. In ch. 15, Absalom props himself up as the king in an attempted palace coup. Read 15:13-14. Who comes to his aid? (16:1-2) Why did Zeba saddle up these beasts? Who was the rightful leader? Today consider how you are honoring those who are leaders.
