In James 2:1, we learned about the glorious Jesus Christ. We referred to that miraculous event when God showed Himself present in the cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night to protect His people from the advancing Egyptian army. Today, thank God for His protection in your life. We may not even know how we have escaped danger and darkness. But we have. God is glorious. He is safe. He is free from favoritism. In His presence, all are welcome. Spend time getting close to Him and see how He welcomes you in.

What sort of person do you show prejudice or reject as not worthy of spending time with? James 2:1 says that we should not show favoritism. Favoritism has to do with how you view people from the outside ignoring who they really are on the inside. Dwell on how God thinks of His creation. Read Genesis 1:27; Proverbs 22:2; and Acts 10:34. What does God think about a person's wealth or poverty? Today, go out of your way to talk to someone who is struggling and in need. Get to know them by name. Ask about their dreams. Be a friend. Treat them the way you would hope to be treated if you were in their situation.

In yesterday's text, we referred to looking in the mirror and examining what you see (vs. 23-24). The Greek word "to examine your reflection" takes you all the way back to your original design- the way God created you at the beginning of your life.
When you look in the mirror, what do you see? Do you like what is staring back at you? Do you see God's original design? Or, have you hidden it away so that you are reflecting some other individual?
Consider taking off that mask and finding Christ in you. When you study the appearance of Jesus, you will be transformed. Why not choose to let God use you just the way he created you? As verse 25 says, staring at the perfect law (loving God and others) will bring a blessing, not just to others, but to you.
