Friday, July 2: Romans 8:18-31

What is Paul saying to those who suffer in some way? Why do we have problems and suffer? Are these heartaches and problems beyond God? In what way does God suffer with us and help us? Think about your worst problem. Do you see how this will turn out according to verse 28? What is the promise of verse 27-31? When did God know about you? When did He know about your problem? God is at work today behind the scenes about your situation. It may look bleak, but you may be closer than you think to see God break through in total control for your good and His glory. Do not lose hope. Recommit to His vision for your life.

Acts 9:15-16; Galatians 1:11-23

Life is short. You blink and all sorts of opportunities can pass you by. It becomes hard to wait upon God when we want something to happen now. What vision did God give to Paul early on in his Christian life? When did that vision start in the mind of the Lord? Where did he go first? Why give a vision and then send him to the desert? What happened to Paul in the desert? Are you going through a desert experience where you feel like you have been shelved in the dark corner somewhere? Do not look at this as a failure or a time when God is forsaking you. Spend time in the Word and in prayer and even in fasting to allow God to speak to you and change you for what lies ahead. Sometime in the future, your desert experience will make sense.

Philippians 2:1-14

What does Paul encourage the church to be like in vs. 2? What is Christ’s example for us regarding us being a servant of Christ? How did Christ’s crucifixion fit God’s vision for Him? Vs. 5 says that our attitude should be the same. What sort of vision does God have for us? How does the servant vision fit with your personal vision? How does vs. 12’s “working out your salvation” speak to developing God’s vision? What part does God have in your vision? What is He allowing in your life that could be seen as preparation to make you ready to complete His vision for you? Think about your life’s circumstances in view of vs. 13. Are you grumbling about your life? Stop complaining and view it as preparation for God’s plans for you.
